In year 7 students are taught in tutor groups and follow two routes throughout the year.
In route one students delvelop their skills in Food and Textiles.
In route two students develop their skills in Resistant Materials and Graphics.
In year 8 students enter a carousel of teaching where they are taught in smaller groups of approximately 20 students. Students are taught in 10 week blocks and rotate through Food, Textiles, Resistant Materials and Graphics.
In year 9 students are given the opportunituy to focus on two areas of Design and Technology. As with year 8, students are taught in smaller groups and focus on one subject area at a time.
Key Stage 4 (GCSE)
Students are given the opportunity to take up to two Design and Technology subjects at GCSE and are able to choose from following options:
The GCSEs are made up of two sections – the first is a Controlled Assessment set by the exam board, which involves answering a design brief and designing and making a graphic product. This is worth 60% of the final mark. The second is a written examination worth 40% of the final mark. You will be tested on your design skills and theoretical knowledge.
