Dear Past Staff and Students
On 15th October 2015 we witnessed the beginning of the construction phase of the new Academy building, this marked a new and exciting era for St Michael’s. We are delighted to benefit from an entirely new Academy for the young people whom we serve. The students will be leaving the present school, for the last time on Tuesday 22nd March and the new Academy opens in April 2016.
As we move ever closer to the moving date we would like to invite you for a final visit to St Michael’s to say farewell. St Michael’s will be open on Saturday 19th March 2016 between 10am and 12pm for you to have a last look around before we move into the new building.
With all good wishes.
National lifesaving Finals
Over the weekend Anya Cullum, Alex Maddren (Y7), Piper Moon and Erin Donnelly (Y8) were swimming in the National lifesaving Finals at the London Olympic pool, in which they all swam superbly and gained brilliant personal best times.
In particular Erin swam to 2 bronze medals and has been selected to the Great Britain Performance Squad, which is a huge achievement for her age!
St Michael’s Chapel Appeal
St Michael’s PTA are helping to build a Chapel. Since the 1960’s a Chapel has been a part of our children’s education. We are challenged to raise over £90,000 to ensure future generations of students enjoy the use of a Chapel in the new school a place of faith, prayer, peace, love and understanding. A Time capsule containing a snapshot of school life has been buried for posterity as students mark the completion of a new academy building. Staff and students at St
Michael’s Catholic Academy, Billingham, chose a selection of items to be placed into an aluminium container to represent school life in 2016, which is set to be opened by pupils in 2086. Please click the image below for more details on this.
Students in year 11 have been commended for their exemplary attitude and approach to their recent pre-public examinations. Mrs Atkinson, St Michael’s Examinations Officer, successfully received five Kindle Fires from Vision for Education as a prize for a competition and it was decided to use these to reward students for their hard work and respect during the exam period.
